Thomas & Friends (originally known as Thomas the Tank Engine) is a children's animated television series airing on Nickelodeon, PBS, and internationally. Thomas and Friends Big World! Big Adventures is a feature length worldwide cinema released 3D animated film.
My role as 3D Layout Artist on the television show, and feature length film was to combine all of the set elements to match the storyboards. I set up the camera angles and created complex camera moves for each shot.
I populated the scenes with rigged props and foliage, created pose to pose animation of the facial features and movements of the characters and props to get it ready for animation, as well as problem solved and implemented fixes to broken animations later on in the production. As well as the layout work itself, I also presented to the director, lead layout artist and production lead in roundtable meetings with the entire team.
